FAQs
Recovery after orthopaedic surgery involves following medical advice, taking your medications on time, attending physiotherapy to rebuild strength and mobility, keeping the wound clean, eating nutritious meals, and slowly increasing activity. Consistency with exercises and follow-up checks leads to better long-term results. TMTC provides a bespoke aftercare facility which is patient-centred, delivering full end-to-end aftercare, including recovery guidance, coordination with a UK specialist on your return to the UK, and continuous support to make your healing journey smoother and safer.
You won't feel any pain during the orthopaedic procedure because you'll be under anaesthesia. Some pain after surgery is normal, but it can be managed with medication. Most patients start moving around within a day, and pain improves as they heal. Physiotherapy also helps you move better and feel better. Recovery is easier and more manageable with the right care and guidance.
TMTC works exclusively with India’s top specialists who have been vetted, and are at approved hospitals accredited by JCI (Joint Commission International) and NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals, India). These are the most respected accreditations in global healthcare, recognised for setting rigorous standards in patient safety and quality of care. Many of our India doctors have trained in the UK and bring extensive NHS experience.
Yes, aftercare support is provided but the level of follow-ups depends on the medical provider you choose. With TMTC, you are fully supported - a UK-based medical team coordinates your ongoing care on return to the UK, working closely with your NHS GP to monitor your recovery and provide support once you’re home.
While orthopaedic surgery abroad is generally safe, complications can occur, as with any surgical procedure. Early detection makes issues like swelling, infection or implant-related concerns easier to manage. Monitoring symptoms, following medical advice, attending follow-ups, and staying connected with your TMTC care team helps ensure a smooth recovery. For a unique added reassurance, TMTC includes 12-month post-surgery insurance on the body part operated on, claimable in the UK. There is no need to return to India for managing complications (other medical travel companies often require you to return to the country where you had the operation, with new added costs). The insurance also means you do not place a burden on the NHS or have problems accessing care in the UK. Your private UK GP will manage the post-operative period until you are discharged back to your NHS GP.
When you arrive in India, your dedicated TMTC coordinator will greet you at the airport, with wheelchair assistance if needed, and escort you to your accommodation. From hospital transfers and medical appointments to meals and housekeeping, every detail of your stay is thoughtfully and seamlessly managed.
India has modern technology and highly skilled surgeons who provide advanced orthopaedic care. All professionals speak good English. The costs of treatment are significantly lower than in the UK, but the quality of care at top hospitals remains high. Well-equipped facilities and trained clinical teams that prioritise safety and outcomes facilitate recovery. With TMTC, you also get help and guidance from your private UK doctor throughout your surgical journey.
TMTC goes beyond what most medical travel companies offer. While many providers limit post-treatment support to basic instructions - such as wound care guidance, medication schedules, and physiotherapy advice - their involvement often ends once the patient leaves the hospital. At TMTC, our state-of-the-art aftercare centre offers organised recovery guidance, regular progress check-ins, and direct communication with your private UK GP to keep your healing on track. This level of aftercare ensures you receive ongoing, safe support both abroad and even after your return to the UK.
